English 101-Ready Requirements

You are English 101-Ready if you meet at least ONE of the following criteria:

Exam or Class	Criteria
Placement Assessment	Placement Assessment results of ENG 31.01
SAT English	SAT Reading and Writing score of 550 or higher (after March 1, 2016)*
ACT English	ACT English score of 23 or higher*
NYS English Regent	NYS English Regent score of 85% or higher**
GPA	GPA of 85% or 3.1 (within 10 years of high school graduation)
ENG 91 or ESL 94	Grade of A (accepted between Fall 2010 and Summer 2019)
ENG 92 or ESL 122	Passing Grade

*Students using SAT/ACT scores must have taken the exam within the past 5 years

**Students using Regent scores must have graduated high school within the past 3 years

Students who have successfully completed ENG 101 + ENG 99 qualify to take courses requiring either ENG 101 or ENG 101-ready as a prerequisite.
