VET 101 - Introduction to Veterinary Technology 3 credits
An introduction to the veterinary technology profession. Lectures illustrate the role of the veterinary technician; career opportunities; principles and practices of animal care in clinics, hospitals and research labs; handling and restraint of animals; ethical considerations; legal regulations and state and federal laws. Basic principles of veterinary terminology, animal health and husbandry, nutrition and genetics are discussed. Lab will focus on identification of common species as well as humane handling and restraint.
Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Prerequisites: ENG 101 - Writing and Research .
