VET 203 - Farm Animal Nursing

4 credits

This course provides an introduction to large animal medical nursing, herd health and production science. Topics include restraint and sanitation in a farm animal setting, how to conduct a thorough physical examination, diagnostic tests, and radiology. The course also touches upon specie-specific topics such as neonatal care and processing, nutrition, genetics, reproduction, and appropriate grooming techniques. Lab sessions introduce experiences in a variety of large animal settings and are held both on and off-campus.
