ENG 102H - Writing and Literature - Honors

3 credits


This course is the second semester of a two-semester sequence of reading and writing. Students will augment those skills emphasized in the first semester by writing essays which demonstrate their ability to read, to analyze, to interpret, and to evaluate works from different genres or imaginative literature, different historical periods, and different cultural traditions. Students are introduced to literary terminology and to the methods of literary analysis. Research and its proper documentation will be included in this process. Honors Level Addition: The course will emphasize the use of masterworks and historical contexts, and it will touch upon not only issues in literature, but also in psychology, metaphysics, and ethics.

Prerequisites: ENG 101 - Writing and Research .
Offered spring semester.
