MBC 160 - Medical Billing and Information Management

3 credits

Students develop an understanding of how a medical billing and practice management system works in the day-to-day operations of a medical office setting. Students will learn to input patient information, schedule appointments, code and bill insurance companies, post payments to patient accounts, run financial reports as well as patient statements, evaluate office workflow, and process release of information following HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

Prerequisites: MBC 140 - Health Insurance and Reimbursement. Basic computer experience recommended.
Offered fall and spring semesters.
