CE-ART 2352 - Art Appreciation over Centuries
Learn why people need art and how it uplifts the human spirit. From cave paintings you will realize that art is constantly evolving. The Renaissance period saw a real emphasis on realism and a shift from tempera paints to oil paints. Classicism produced art that was used intentionally to instill feelings of patriotism in the people of each nation. Impressionism encouraged painting outdoors while Cubism was all about fragmentation and multiple perspectives. Futurists reject social organizations. Surrealism is fundamentally psychoanalytical while Abstract art steps away from Europe. Pop Art is about everything. Art is a fundamental part of what it means to be human.
