CE-COLGM 2056 - Global Warming: Dangers and Solutions Going Forward

Leader: Peter Spitz, MIT graduate who spent his career in the energy and chemical industries, author of three books and numerous articles, MIT lecturer, blogger on new developments in energy and chemical technologies. The earth’s climate has been changing, a fact that has been attributed to the rapid rise in the emission of carbon dioxide from the combustion of fossil fuels. United Nations climate scientists warned of dire consequences if dramatic actions were not taken to limit the rise of atmospheric temperature to a target level. We now know that this target will not be met. This course will cover (a) all the actions being taken globally to deal with the carbon problem, (b) scenario predictions of global warming effects going forward, and (c) optimistic views of how the world’s population can take steps to abate the problems associated with our changing climate.
