PSYCH 201H - Behavioral Statistics - Honors

4 Credits

An honors version of PSYCH 201, this course introduces data analysis in the behavioral sciences. Topics include measures of central tendency and variability, frequency distributions, standard scores, statistical hypothesis testing, t-tests, analysis of variance, correlation, chi-square, measures of effect size, the interpretation of statistical results, and the discussion of empirical findings. Each student conducts a research project involving formulation of a research question and hypothesis, collection and analysis of data, and preparation of a research report and presentation.

Prerequisites: PSYCH 101 - Introduction to Psychology  with a grade of C or higher; any college-level math course with a grade of C or higher. Approval of the Honors Directors; other Honors Program prerequisites may apply.
