Program Description

The Associate in Science degree in Business Administration is designed to parallel the first two years of the bachelor’s degree requirements at most four-year colleges and universities. Transfer agreements between Westchester Community College and four-year colleges in the region assure that, with careful planning, A.S. graduates may transfer most of their credits when they enter the same curriculum at participating four-year colleges and universities. Graduates from Westchester Community College should complete their bachelor’s degree within two years. For specific transfer agreement requirements, see the Curriculum Chair.

Students in this degree program acquire an understanding of the inter-relationship between the liberal arts/social sciences and the management of business enterprises. The required mathematics, science, and economics courses provide a solid grounding developing quantitative analysis skill that are necessary for business decision making. The professional courses—Accounting, Information Technology, Marketing and Management—prepare students for more advanced study at the baccalaureate level.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will develop an understanding of how business functions to enhance success in upper-level courses at Westchester Community College and in four-year colleges.
Students will develop an understanding of the management functions of Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing and Controlling.
Students will receive a basic understanding of the function of the operation of the global marketplace needed for advanced business courses.
