Program Description


Current demand for Computer Aided Design and Drafting professionals has been running at very high levels. This certificate prepares students to function in this role in a variety of settings, including industry, government and engineering and architectural offices. Current opportunities include working on construction, product design and equipment fabrication projects.

The one-year certificate is designed to train students in the most modern CAD methods using the latest equipment and software (AutoCAD). The skills taught in the program enable students to function as specialists in this burgeoning field. Specialties include mechanical desktop, solid modeling and architectural design, along with general purpose computer drafting skills. Students are also well prepared to learn other CAD software packages that they may encounter.

Program Learning Outcomes


  1. Students will be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  2. Students will be able to create engineering drawings.
  3. Students will be able to use AutoCAD software to create both 2D and 3D drawings.
  4. Students will be able to plot and publish their drawings on paper the internet and 3D printers.
  5. Students will be able to work both independently and as member of a team.
