Program Description

The Westchester Community College Radiologic Technology Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and is recognized by New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).

The Program admitted its first students in 1969. The Program is two years in length with an extremely well balanced academic and clinical education component. Clinical education is designed to give students the opportunity to practice his/her positioning and technical skills in a healthcare environment. Program schedules are published well in advance of clinical assignments so that arrangements can be made for travel to this site. Didactic and clinical learning provide an atmosphere that promotes problem solving and critical thought needed to prepare students for completion of the program.

Upon completion of the program, the student is eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination. When the examination is passed, the graduate will be granted a license issued by NYSDOH to practice Radiography. The students also receive an Associate Degree in Applied Science from the College.

For over fifty years the program has provided a vision for the future: that of providing the radiologic technology profession with academically and clinically competent radiographers who are able to take their place in an ever changing health care facility.
