Program Description


Employees in today’s computer-dominated workplace must possess “Information Age” skills. This certificate provides students with the opportunity to become proficient in office computer applications and to gain a solid foundation in current business practices. In addition, a strong emphasis is placed on oral and written communications and accounting skills that are essential for success in business.

Graduates will be prepared to find employment in such jobs as Computer Applications Specialist, Office Assistant, Customer Service Representative and other computer and administrative support positions.

All credits earned for this certificate may be applied to an Associate’s degree in Office Technologies.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this program, a student will:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in business productivity software, basic workplace computer literacy, and information management.
  2. Demonstrate library and internet research skills.
  3. Demonstrate effective business communications skills.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of accounting theory and financial procedures used in organizational decision making.
