Program Description
The Engineering Science A.S. at SUNY Westchester Community College program offers a robust foundation in engineering principles, merging science, mathematics, and design in a curriculum aligned with the first two years of most four-year engineering degrees. Through coursework in calculus, physics, chemistry, and computer programming, as well as hands-on laboratory and engineering studies, students develop critical problem-solving skills and technical knowledge applicable to a variety of engineering fields. This program equips graduates for seamless transfer to bachelor’s degree programs in engineering, paving the way for careers in high-demand, future-focused industries. Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, a student will: - Demonstrate a thorough understanding of mathematics through differential equations.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the basic laws of calculus-based physics.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the engineering methodology used in solving problems.
Program Requirements
68 credits are required for the degree: - General Education - 33 credits
- Required Degree Courses - 35 credits
Note: This program has an approved waiver of the credit cap at 68 credit hours. This was approved as part of the changes in 2016.
