Program Description
The Human Services A.S. program at SUNY Westchester Community College equips students with the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for a career focused on supporting individuals, families, and communities. This program emphasizes social justice, ethical practice, and practical experience in the field through two required internships. Students gain hands-on experience with local agencies, preparing them for transfer into four-year social work or related programs. Graduates are well-prepared for roles in social work, community health, and case management, or for advanced study in human services fields. Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, a student will: - Understand the theoretical knowledge base and its application to the mission of social work.
- Apply core values and ethics of the Social Work Profession.
- Demonstrate the entry level social work generalist practice skills necessary for work with individuals, families, and groups.
- Demonstrate preparedness for higher level education in the field of human services.
