Program Description


The Radiologic Technology A.A.S. program at SUNY Westchester Community College offers comprehensive training for students aiming to join the fast-evolving field of medical imaging. Combining theoretical knowledge with extensive clinical practice, this program prepares students to become skilled radiologic technologists, focused on patient care and safety. Graduates are equipped to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam and, upon passing, can obtain licensure from the New York State Department of Health. With accreditation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the program upholds high standards in radiographic education, fostering competence in patient-centered care and safe imaging practices.

Program Learning Outcomes


The mission of the Radiologic Technology Program is in keeping with that of the college, to prepare competent entry-level radiographers to gain employment in various health facilities. This preparation includes promoting a high standard of clinical practice, ensuring safe radiation practice, and committing to patient safety and comfort with quality of care. In fulfillment of this mission, Westchester Community College affirms these goals and student learning outcomes.

Upon successful completion of this program:

  1. Students will function as entry level technologists.
  2. Students will think critically and analytically in clinical practice.
  3. Students will adhere to the ethical and social values of the profession.
  4. Students will demonstrate effective communication skills.
