Program Description
The Liberal Arts and Sciences: Humanities A.A. with a concentration in Spanish at SUNY Westchester Community College immerses students in both the Spanish language and the rich, diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. The interdisciplinary curriculum enhances analytical and communication skills through Spanish literature, culture, and language while providing flexibility to explore other humanities areas. Graduates are prepare for successful transfer to four-year Spanish programs and for careers in education, translation, public relations, and international relations. Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Liberal Arts and Sciences: Humanities degree with a concentration in Spanish, a graduate will: - Demonstrate knowledge of the methods and conventions in the field of English or Philosophy and at least one other Humanities discipline.
- Develop, research and document analytical responses to one or more of the following: films, literary or philosophical texts, works of art, musical compositions or performances, theatrical works.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce clear, creative written expression of ideas.
- Demonstrate the ability to determine distinctive features of a non-English speaking culture.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the structure and vocabulary of a language outside of English.
