Fall 2010 Course Catalog

What You Need to Know about the New Digital College Catalog

It is with great pleasure that we introduce the new, Digital Catalog as a replacement for what has historically appeared in print. Providing catalog information digitally allows for greater flexibility and makes the publication far more accessible to students. This resource, which had been published once every two years, will now be updated each and every semester.

The College Catalog vs. The College Web Site — Where to Go for What?

Both the College Catalog and the college Web site contain information on a variety of subjects. In general, the best place to start your search for information will be the college’s Web site at www.sunywcc.edu. Using the horizontal navigation system there, student can find everything they need. Where appropriate, certain requests will automatically link visitors into, an out of, the Digital College Catalog. The appearance of the blue left-hand navigation bar indicates that you are viewing a page within the Digital College Catalog. Use the links and Search feature found there to explore it. The horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page can be used to return to the college Web site.

Information that is stored within the College Catalog will be archived each semester. Using a drop-down menu, visitors can then select, search, and review catalog information from either the current, or previous semesters. This feature is particularly useful for reviewing progress you have made toward your degree. Be sure to read the section below entitled Archived Catalog Editions

Because the College Catalog is archived every semester, it is where we have chosen to store information about our Programs of Study; Course Descriptions; and College Standards, Procedures, and Policies.  The remainder of the catalog serves as a good resource for new and future students who are looking for overview of what the college has to offer. It contains general information about the college and often directs visitors to the Web site for additional details.

Archived Catalog Editions
When you need to access the list of graduation requirements for your particular degree, the Digital College Catalog is the place to go. Because students’ program requirements are locked-in based on the year and semester that they enroll in a program, it is important that students return to the correct Catalog edition when reviewing their progress. New editions of the Catalog will be published after the start of each fall and spring semester, and the existing edition will be added to the archives. Program requirements do change, so be sure you select the edition appropriate for you when you look back.

A Note about Accessibility

The Digital College Catalog is a replacement of the printed Course Catalog. Students are encouraged to access Catalog information online as needed, printing only when truly necessary. Academic counselors will print relevant excerpts for students during counseling visits. Students unable to access Catalog information online may contact the Registrar’s Office at 914-606-6810 or the Counseling Office at 914-606-6572 for further assistance.
