Explore the development of architecture in America from its beginnings to roughly modern day, with an emphasis Historic Preservation and New York State. Examine indigenous and vernacular American architecture, colonial and Federalist design, the appropriation of European design elements, the development of architecture as a profession, the American Parks Movement and landscape architecture, the innovation of the skyscraper, the rise of twentieth century urban environments, public works projects, modernism and more. Meets online for 2-hour sessions over 14 weeks. Counts for 28 hours towards the certificate requirements.
