VET 204 - Senior Lab 1 2 Credits
Under direct supervision, students perform anesthetic, surgical and dental, and associated radiographic procedures on veterinary patients. Provides study in surgical assisting, operative care and anesthesiology and prepares students to monitor the veterinary patient through all aspects of anesthesia and surgery, from pre-surgical assessment to post-surgical care. Different forms and levels of anesthesia are reviewed. Emphasis is placed on assisting in surgical procedures, administering and monitoring anesthesia, maintenance of surgical instruments and monitoring equipment, full dental prophylaxis, and radiographic positioning. Multiple off-site locations to be utilized.
Prerequisites: VET 200 - Clinical Pathology 2 and VET 210 - Veterinary Technology Clinical Experience .
