Program Description


The Cybersecurity certificate provides students with a firm foundation in the basic principles of business security. It is recommended for individuals with prior computer experience, and designed for students who need to enhance their job skills. The courses can also be applied to the A.A.S. degree in Cybersecurity. Graduates of this certificate can expect opportunities to use their skills in private industry, government, law enforcement, the military, health services and academia.

Program Learning Outcomes


  1. Understand how the hardware of computer systems functions, and be able to manage, protect and secure including Forensic extraction from hardware and software applications.
  2. Understand how the operating system of workstation and server functions, and how to setup, manage, identify and recognize problems and attacks.
  3. Understand how the computer network functions, and how to setup, manage, identify and recognize patterns related to attacks using network packets and software behavioral analysis.
  4. Understand the many other ways that the security of computer systems, are breached and how to make the computer systems more secure.
  5. Write comprehension reports of security and forensic information that could be used in a court of law.
