Program Description
The Teaching Assistant certificate provides an opportunity for teaching assistants and other individuals interested in childhood education to begin their higher education in a gradual and supportive manner and to meet the new state and/or federal requirements. For some individuals, this will be the first step in a process for obtaining a baccalaureate degree and teaching certification.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, a student will:
- Demonstrate competency in college-level English and Mathematics required to assist teachers in an elementary school setting.
- Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of general psychology and developmental psychology to be able to understand and work with a wide variety of students in an elementary school setting.
- Demonstrate understanding of the history, structure and current policy issues in American education necessary for working effectively in an elementary school setting.
Minimum Total Credits - 18
