Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree Defined
The purpose of the A.A.S. is to be fully trained for immediate employment upon graduation. Program Description
Office professionals in today’s fast-paced business world must possess excellent computer, communications and other administrative skills. This curriculum prepares students for careers in office systems administration, which would include positions such as administrative assistant, office manager, sales assistant, customer service representative and executive assistant. Graduates are employed in a wide variety of fields and types of organizations—international corporations, law firms, hospitals, schools, government offices and small companies.
The program of study in Office Technologies provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to not only perform effectively in today’s office environment, but also to be prepared to meet the challenges of continually evolving technologies and job responsibilities. Students enrolled in this curriculum have the opportunity to obtain college credit for paid work experience through our Cooperative Education program.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, a student will:
- Demonstrate the computer information processing skills needed for success in office administration.
- Demonstrate effective business communications skills.
- Demonstrate the office administration skills and knowledge required of office support professionals.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the interpersonal skills and professional qualities needed to provide effective customer service.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the various functional areas of business organizations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the accounting cycle, income statement, and balance sheet.
