This 140-hour Historic Preservation Certificate at SUNY Westchester Peekskill combines classroom learning with hands-on fieldwork in woodworking, masonry, site management, and conservation. Unique among New York State community colleges, the one-year program includes one required elective. Lectures may also be taken independently for personal or professional development.

Program tuition is $2,395!

Historic Preservation Walking Tours

Historic Somers Tour

Join Jonathon Benjamin-President of The Somers Historical Society for a guided tour of some of Somers, New York’s most historic landmarks. This tour will give visitors a chance to see the Wright Reis Homestead, The Mount Zion Church, and the Elephant Hotel.  These locations re directly tied to the town’s past, blending architecture, local stories, and moments that helped make Somers what it is today.
