Illustration and 2D Animation Certificate – 206 Hrs
The Illustration and Animation Certificate program provides students with the fundamentals of illustration techniques and animation principals. Students will begin with foundations in illustration, sequential storytelling, character design and move into animation fundamentals. This program will utilize a variety of Adobe tools including Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere. In addition, students will be taught illustration, painting, and animation techniques in Procreate and also gain experience in TV Paint. This program is designed to develop strong professional level skills in 206 hours and a portfolio piece for students to share with future employers. Supply list available. Students must register for the entire certificate program at time of registration.

3D Animation Certificate-252 Hrs
Explore the many facets of 3D animation in this intensive online non-credit two-semester certificate program beginning in the fall. This program will take students through the 3D animation production pipeline and cover many aspects of 3D creation. From modeling assets and characters to animating and final rendering, this program will guide you through the fundamental principles of 3D animation. Whether you are interested in film, video games, or commercial work, these courses will get you on the right trajectory. The culminating experience will be the creation of a demo reel for their portfolio to show employers or schools in order to continue on their career paths. Student demo reels will be featured in an exhibition. Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge.

Digital Photography Certificate-126 Hrs
This online, non-credit certificate program is over two semesters, beginning in the fall. The culminating experience will be the creation of a photography portfolio and exhibition to share with family, friends, and potential employers in order to continue on their personal and professional pathways. The Digital Photography Certificate will provide new and motivated photographers with a foundation in practice and theory with lab exercises, assignments, and lecture demonstrations. Students will learn about the proper operation of a camera and achieving correct exposure,
composition methods, post processing, and specialized photography. Throughout the experience, students will draw inspiration from the works of historical and contemporary photography. Enhance your portfolio and hone your skills! The certificate program is an intensive course of study with six individual courses. Students must register for the entire program at time of registration.

Advanced Digital Photography Series
Did you complete the Digital Photography Certificate or are you a capable photographer looking for a community with other photographers and to advance your skills? The Advanced Digital Photography series is for students who are post certificate or have received instructor permission. Students will expand on their technical and storytelling capabilities with hands-on technical training. These courses are hybrid (remote and in-person): Photo-shoots will be both outdoors and onsite, taking advantage of the extensive resources and specialized facility at the Center for the Digital Arts. Software-based review sessions will be remote.
Students may register for either course but are highly encouraged to sign up for both.

Mixed Reality (XR) Certificate-84 Hrs
This online non-credit, certificate program is an intensive course of study over two semesters beginning in the fall. This program gives students the tools and knowledge to create mixed reality worlds. Students will be instructed in Game Design, Digital 3D Modeling, Game Programming 1 & 2, mixed reality design (virtual and augmented reality), and portfolio development. This certificate will enable students to acquire skills that are attractive to employers in an in-demand field. For ages 18 years & up. Students must register for the entire program at time of registration.

Web Design Certificate Program-64 Hrs
This is a non-credit remote synchronous certificate program, beginning in the spring. Learn design principles and front-end programming using languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Students will Learn to use tools like Chrome Devtools, Adobe Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. Students will be utilizing the design thinking process to work as a collaborative web development team, to prototype, evaluate, and test a finished portfolio piece. Portfolio pieces will be online websites ready for professional use. Students must register for the entire program at time of registration.

Social Media Specialist Certificate-66 Hrs
This online, non-credit certificate program is over two semesters, beginning in the fall. The culminating experience will be the creation of a social media portfolio that students can share with potential employers or use as a guide to create their own social media consulting business. The Social Media Specialist Certificate provides motivated individuals with a foundation in practice and theory with hands-on activities, in-depth assignments, and lectures by the instructor and using supplemental resources, such as videos and/or interviews with social media professionals. We give you the tools to become a smart and capable player on the social media stage. When you are done, you will be able to create a powerful social media strategy. The certificate is an intensive course of study with a total of seven individual courses, and three optional electives to choose from. One elective is required during the program. Upon completion of the core courses, participants will have the opportunity to take the Hootsuite Social Marketing exam (exam fees are additional). Completion of the certificate is required for the exam. Students may register for the entire certificate program at time of registration or take courses independently in sequence.

Westchester Community College offers a variety of digital media programs designed to equip students with professional skills in illustration, animation, 3D modeling, game design, and digital photography. Utilizing industry-standard software like Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Procreate, and Unity 3D, these programs provide hands-on experience and portfolio development. Courses cover essential techniques in character design, sequential storytelling, and animation fundamentals, preparing students for freelance or industry-based opportunities.
