Program Description
The Computer Aided Drafting Certificate at SUNY Westchester Community College equips students with essential CAD skills for careers in industry, government, engineering, and architecture. Through hands-on training on advanced CAD platforms and software, students gain expertise in solid modeling, architectural design, and general-purpose drafting. Whether the focus is on civil/architectural or mechanical drafting, this certificate prepares students to interpret and create professional engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models, meeting industry standards for electronic formats and 3D printing. This program is ideal for those ready to start or advance a technical career with practical, in-demand CAD skills. Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, a student will: - Demonstrate the ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
- Demonstrate the ability to create engineering drawings and schematics.
- Demonstrate the ability to use the appropriate drafting software to create 2D and/or 3D drawings, schematics, and assemblies.
- Demonstrate competency publishing engineering drawings in industry accepted electronic formats, and/or paper plotting and exporting to a 3D printer.
