Program Description


The Paramedic Certificate program at SUNY Westchester Community College offers a direct path to becoming a certified paramedic, preparing students to handle the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care. Through intensive coursework and hands-on clinical experiences, students gain the essential skills and knowledge to qualify for New York State Department of Health certification and the National Registry EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P) credential. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, this program is an ideal choice for those looking to enter a rewarding and impactful career in emergency medical services.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this program, a student will:

  1. To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive learning domain.

  2. To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the psychomotor learning domain.

  3. To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the affective learning domain.

Minimum Expected Goal

To prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.
