Program Description

The Energy Systems A.A.S. program at SUNY Westchester Community College equips students with the technical knowledge and skills essential for entry-level roles in energy generation, transmission, and distribution. Developed with industry leaders like the New York Power Authority and Con Edison, this program covers the fundamentals of energy systems, including gas, fossil, nuclear, and hydro-electric power. Students gain hands-on experience with modern energy technologies, industrial maintenance, and power circuit analysis, alongside essential coursework in math, science, and communication. Graduates are prepared to meet the demand for skilled technicians in the evolving energy sector, ready to support sustainable and reliable energy solutions.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, a student will:

Demonstrate understanding of the structure of the energy industry and current developments, including technological trends.
Demonstrate the technical skills necessary for establishing a career path in the energy industry.
Demonstrate the ability to solve technical problems using critical thinking and troubleshooting methods.
