Program Description
The Fashion Merchandising A.A.S. program at SUNY Westchester Community College combines creativity with business intelligence, preparing students for a variety of careers in the fashion industry. Blend your passion for fashion with business to excel in buying, visual merchandising, product development, and textiles. This hands-on program also includes opportunities for internships, elective design courses, and projects that offer a real-world perspective on the fashion business. Graduates are well-equipped to pursue careers in buying offices, designer showrooms, retail management, and more, or to continue their education in fashion. Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, a student will: - Demonstrate understanding of fashion theory, technology, and terminology.
- Demonstrate understanding of the fashion consumer and the buying process.
- Apply knowledge of the fashion consumer, fashion theory, technology, and terminology to fashion retailing scenarios.
- Demonstrate understanding of how to measure profitability in the fashion industry using industry metrics.
