Program Description
The field of nutrition examines how food and nutrients influence health, growth, and disease prevention. The Nutrition A.S. program at SUNY Westchester Community College integrates nutrition, with liberal arts and science courses to prepare students for careers in public health, community education, food service, and wellness, as well as for transfer to a bachelor’s program in nutrition or a related field. Students who pursue a bachelor’s degree can become public health nutrition specialists or community health educators in food service and wellness settings. Baccalaureate programs also prepare students for certifications such as the Nutrition/Dietetic Technician, Registered exam, and the Certified Dietary Manager exam, as well as for entry into coordinated master’s programs leading to Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist credentials. Note: The program was formerly titled “Foods and Nutrition”. Program Learning Outcomes
