Program Description

The Engineering Science A.S. with a concentration in Civil Engineering at SUNY Westchester Community College provides a robust foundation in mathematics, physics, and core engineering concepts tailored for students aiming to pursue careers or advanced studies in civil engineering. Through a curriculum that mirrors the first two years of a typical four-year engineering degree, students gain hands-on experience with surveying, materials strength, structural design, and computer-aided drafting. This program prepares graduates to transfer seamlessly to bachelor’s degree programs in civil engineering, equipping them with essential skills to address the complex challenges of infrastructure, construction, and environmental systems.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, a student will:

  1. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of mathematics through differential equations.
  2. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the basic laws of calculus-based physics.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the engineering methodology used in solving problems.
