Program Description

The Engineering Science A.S. with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering at SUNY Westchester Community College offers a strong foundation in science, mathematics, and engineering principles, closely paralleling the first two years of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Students explore key areas including calculus, chemistry, physics, statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and material strength, preparing them to tackle real-world engineering problems. With an emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, this program equips students for seamless transfer to a four-year institution and future careers in fields such as manufacturing, product design, and energy systems, all part of a growing and high-demand industry.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, a student will:

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of mathematics through differential equations.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the basic laws of calculus-based physics.
Demonstrate an understanding of the engineering methodology used in solving problems.
