ECE 271 - Early Childhood Practicum 1

2 Credits

This 80-hour practicum experience accompanies the course Observation and Assessment. Students contribute to the daily life of an early childhood classroom while working alongside mentor teachers. To learn about and support children in a group setting, students participate in observation and documentation based on the Prospect Descriptive Processes. Students practice techniques of authentic assessment to support children’s development and learning.

Prerequisites: ENG 101-Ready and READ 105-Ready; ECE 170 - Early Childhood Development and ECE 171 - Foundations of Early Childhood (with final grade of C or higher in both courses); or permission of the department
Corequisite: ECE 270 - Observation and Assessment
