Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

An HVAC/R training certification program equips aspiring technicians with the essential skills to install, maintain, and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The program offers classroom instruction with hands-on simulations, covering topics including electrical theory, system diagnostics, and energy efficiency standards.

SUNY Westchester is an authorized training provider for the National Construction Center for Education and Research (NCCER) HVAC/R Training. Our faculty is trained by NCCER and they are working professionals in the field. www.NCCER.org

HVAC Prerequisites

SUNY Westchester is an authorized training provider for the National Construction Center for Education and Research (NCCER), and our faculty is trained by NCCER. In addition, they are working professionals in the field. www.NCCER.org

The program consists of three modules:

  • MODULE 1: NCCER Core + OSHA 30 + Computers + Your Role in the Green Environment (FALL 2025 -see schedule options below)
  • MODULE 2: HVAC Level 1 (SPRING 2026)
  • MODULE 3: HVAC Level 2  + EPA 608 Certification (SPRING / SUMMER 2026)

A High School diploma or equivalent is required to register for Module 1. The course is delivered in English.
Participants of the program must take and successfully complete Module 1 prior to being accepted into Modules 2 and 3.

MODULE 1, OPTION 1: DAYTIME IN VALHALLA

Foundations in Construction: NCCER Core with Essential Computer Skills, OSHA 30 and Your Role in the Green Environment, IN-PERSON at SUNY Westchester Valhalla.
