Program Description
The Early Childhood Certificate at SUNY Westchester Community College equips students with essential skills for entry-level roles in early childhood education, working with children from birth to age eight. This program combines foundational coursework with hands-on field experience, covering child development, assessment, and curriculum planning. Through supervised internships, students learn to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world settings, fostering each child’s unique strengths and building meaningful relationships with families. Graduates are prepared for roles in childcare centers, preschools, and other early childhood settings, with the potential to pursue further education and career growth in the field. - Demonstrate knowledge of how to guide daily practice and curriculum in early childhood settings for each child.
