Program Description

The goal of the Business Management A.S. program is to equip students with the competencies required to succeed in a rigorous bachelor’s degree program. The program is designed to parallel the first two years of the bachelor’s degree requirements at most four-year colleges and universities. Transfer agreements between Westchester Community College and four-year colleges in the region assure that, with careful planning, A.S. graduates may transfer most of their credits when they enter the same curriculum at those institutions.

Program Requirements

64 credits are required for the degree:

• General Education - 32 credits

• Communication - Written and Oral (6 credits): ENG 101 Writing and Research  and COMM 109 - Speech Communication  
   
• Humanities (3 credits): ENG 102 Writing and Literature  
   
• Mathematics (and Quantitative Reasoning) (4 credits):  MATH 131 - College Algebra  OR higher
   
• Natural Sciences (and Scientific Reasoning) with Lab (4 credits): choose from this category of general education courses with a lab  
   
• Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (3 credits): HIS 110 - U.S. History Colonial-1800   OR HIS 111 - 19th Century U.S. History  OR HIS 112 - 20th Century United States History  OR HIS 133 - African American History to 1865  OR HIS 134 - African American History from 1865 to Present  
   
• Social Sciences (6 credits): ECON 101 - Macroeconomics  and ECON 102 - Microeconomics  
   
• World Languages (3 credits): choose from this category of general education courses  
   
• World History and Global Awareness (3 credits): MGT 215 - Global Business  

Where specific courses are not listed within the categories above, courses must be selected from the list of all general education courses .

Program Map

The program map is a recommended semester-by-semester schedule of courses based on degree requirements and serve as a general guideline to help students complete their program in two years. Although designed for full-time enrollment, these are easily adaptable for part-time study. For additional, individualized guidance, students should review Degree Works and consult an Academic Counselor or Faculty Advisor to ensure they are on track to complete their program.
